“Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark.”-Agnes De Mille
“With a skillful and gentle legato, we were connected with life itself,” he recalls. A Houston, Texas native, Bowers grew up in Texas on 10 great acres. Those dense memories are vivid and beautifully scenic, always full of contrast and paradox.
Recalling a life that plays back like a flipbook, from early childhood Bowers grew up with a keen interest in the creative and performing arts. Creativity emerged as a vehicle for self- transformation and healing. No stranger to the universal hardships of the human condition, glimpses of poverty and struggle guided him towards a greater understanding of world and self.
And from the shadow of our past emerges the most radiant light able to guide us toward our destiny. Whetted in his own shadows, Brian Bowers seeks to share the peace and awareness he finds on his journey—his soul purpose.
After graduating as a first-generation college student,Bowers became impressed by art and creativity as a means of unifying the human experience. Leveraging his studies and cultural immersion in Egypt, he set out to build a platform to promote and awaken creative consciousness, encouraging all to find their own authentic self-expression.
Today through music, writing, and publishing “Shadows Chasing Light” with his own 5th Principle Productions ThoughtPress, Brian Bowers connects us all by the “invisible threads” we have long forgotten. With a title inspired by a line from Rabindranath Tagore’s famed Gitanjali, the poetic narrative captures snapshots of grief, happiness, love and an infinite longing for the unseen.
The author currently resides in Houston, TX and looks forward to exploring the world through creativity, thus broadening his knowledge and experience of spirituality, life, love and the human experience.
